Frequently asked questions
How does Brisa work?
Brisa matches you with a vetted local photographer, videographer or drone pilot in 20 destinations across Brazil. You choose the destination, the kind of session and a date; a coordinator replies within two hours with an available professional and your exact price in writing; and the date is held once the retainer is paid.
How much does a photoshoot in Brazil cost?
Sessions in Brazil start at $130 for vacation photoshoot, and every service page shows its own starting price in US dollars, its length and what is delivered. The exact price for your date and location is confirmed in writing before you pay anything, and nothing is billed per extra photograph.
What happens after I submit a booking request?
A coordinator replies within two hours with an available photographer and your exact price in writing. Nothing is charged until you accept, and your date is held once the retainer is paid. After the session, your edited photographs arrive in a private online gallery on the date stated for your session type.
When will I receive my photos?
Every session type states its delivery window before you book, from 72 hours for vacation rental & beach house photography to 8 weeks for wedding videography, counted from the day of the session. Edited photographs and films arrive in a private online gallery that stays available for twelve months.
What happens if it rains on the day of my photo session?
Overcast skies and light rain are working conditions, and often flattering ones, so a photo session usually goes ahead. If lightning, a severe-weather alert from the civil defence, or a closed park, trail or beach makes the location genuinely unusable, the session is moved to a new date at no charge, whichever side calls it.
Do I need a permit for a photo session in Brazil?
It depends on the place. In Brazil, a national park run by the Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) or its concessionaire, a historic centre listed by the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN), a state park, a city that issues filming authorisations, and a pousada or private venue can each set their own rules for professional photography, and a drone also answers to the national aviation authorities. Each destination page names the authority for its locations; confirm the current rule with that authority before booking, and any permit cost is named before you pay.
Why book this way
A photographer who already knows the place

Brisa is a booking service for local photographers, videographers and drone pilots in 20 destinations across Brazil, with sessions from $130. You choose the place and the kind of session, you see the starting price before you commit to anything, and the person who answers already works where you will be standing.
Brazil rewards local knowledge more than most places people travel to be photographed. The national parks run by the Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio), the historic centres listed by the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN), the state parks, a city street that needs a filming authorisation, the pousada lawn and the airspace over all of them answer to different authorities and owners. The rules for a tripod, a wedding ceremony or a drone are not the same at any two of them, so each destination page names the authority, links its rules and says when they were last checked.
The light is the other half. On the Atlantic coast the sun rises over the sea, so beach sessions in Rio and the Northeast often start at dawn — before six for much of the year in the Northeast — while the evening in Rio belongs to Arpoador, where the sun drops behind the Morro Dois Irmãos. The rainy months differ by region — the summer storms in Rio and the South-East, the autumn and winter rains on the north-eastern coast, the high and low water in the Amazon — and the seasonality section of every destination says which months to aim for and which to avoid.
Sessions run from a half-hour headshot to a full wedding day with film and drone coverage, and take in proposals, couples, families, elopements, 15th-birthday parties, Carnival and commercial work for pousadas, hotels and restaurants. The exact fee is confirmed in writing before you pay and covers the editing and a private gallery delivered on a stated date, from 72 hours for vacation rental & beach house photography to 8 weeks for wedding videography.
